Seed Count

Seed Count is a web app for designing native (and adapted) seed mixes for use in the Mid-Atlantic, in an institutional, commercial, or residential setting.

Using a python back end and a streamlit front end, Alice programmed this web application to assist designers and others with the process of native seed mix design; the app takes an input of desired plant density and creates graphics to assist in an iterative design process, as well as advising the user of guidelines for successful seed mix design, such as percentage of different plant types, seasonal bloom and color, and germination requirements of different species. Once the user is happy with the design, they can download a seed mix specification appropriate for ordering custom seed mixes, or including in construction specifications. Source code can be viewed on Github.

Examples of visualizations generated by the app are included below.

Section view shows height and color; both parameters are adjustable by season on the application.
